FRANCE NEEDS 310,000 NURSES

A new report from the French believe Tank Terra Nova warns that the nation must hire between 250,000 and 310,000 international employees annually by 2040 to satisfy developing labor market requests.

With a growing population and a reduced collection of vibrant employees, France discovers itself highly dependent on immigration to retain its economic output and important services.

France’s growing reliance on international labor is less concerning as a policy priority and more about economic survival. Employers are already fighting to fill openings with local employees in industries like healthcare, agriculture, construction, and cleaning services.

In the Ile-de-France area, 61 percent of healthcare employees are international citizens, and 20% of physicians in public clinics get medical training overseas. Similarly, the construction and agricultural industries are battling steady manual and seasonal labor shortages, leaving major infrastructure and food supply chains weak.

This demand is not restricted to low-income or manual positions. France is also looking for skilled employees in technology and engineering, providing enticing incomes and long-term prospects to people ready to migrate.

TOP POSITIONS IN DEMAND, AND AVERAGE YEARLY INCOME

  • Healthcare includes nurses and general practitioners ($33,745.95 to $89,988.40).
  • Construction such as electricians, laborers, and plumbers ($28,115.37 to $44,985.52).
  • Agriculture, such as harvesters and pickers ($22,492.13 to $31,488.98 ).
  • Cleaning services include janitors and housekeepers (420,247.66 to $28,115.37).
  • Information Technology such as developers and engineers ($44,985.52 to $78,758.32).

VISA ROUTES

To promote the inflow of required employees, France has generated multiple visa routes to entice experienced experts and seasonal workers.

  • Talent passport (Passeport Talent): A long-term residence permit for highly experienced experts, including engineers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and artists, valid for up to four years. Partners and children are also qualified for residency.
  • Worker visa: This visa is for persons with a verified employment offer in France. It is mainly necessary in the construction, healthcare, and hospitality industries. Employers are required to indicate that the position cannot be completed locally.
  • Seasonal worker visa: This visa awards international citizens temporary work approval in agriculture or tourism for six months annually. It is best for positions in vineyards, seasonal resorts, and farms.
  • Intra-company transfer: This is for multinational firms transferring workers to French branches. Candidates must have been with the firm for a minimum of three months and be authentic for 12 to 36 months.
  • EU Blue Card: Intended for highly educated experts, this card enables non-EU citizens to get employed and settle in France and other EU nations under favorable conditions. Candidates are required to hold a university degree and get employment reimbursing a minimum of 1.5 times the national average income.

Other industry-specific visas, mainly for healthcare experts, are formed to facilitate the access procedure for crucial employees.
