SINGAPORE WORK PERMIT CHANGES IN 2025

Singapore is set to introduce significant changes to work permits and S Pass holders, effective in 2025. These upcoming modifications are designed to enhance its workforce by leveraging skilled international experience, primarily in major industries such as construction, shipbuilding, and manufacturing.

Unrestricted Job Period for Work Permit Holders

Say bye to fixed job periods. From 1 July 2025, work permit holders will no longer face a time limit on their work in Singapore. This bold effort by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) directly addresses the demand to maintain a beneficial and skilled international workforce within the nation.

Higher Maximum Age Cap for Work Permit Holders

In another major update, Singapore is raising the highest age cap for work permit holders to 63, up from 60. Again, the requested age cap will also increase to 61, a notable elevation from the past 50 years for non-Malaysians and 58 years for Malaysian citizens.

Together with the work permit modifications, Singapore has also declared revamps for S Pass holders. Starting from September 2025, the least eligible income for an S Pass will rise to SGD 3,300. Furthermore, S Pass levy rates will be changed, with the basic and Tier 1 levies increasing to $650 from $550, beginning on 1st September 2025.
